Road tripping from Southern to Northern California has always been a dream of mine; a dream that was realized during a long weekend last June. The itinerary included:

Flying into Anaheim and spending a day at Disney's California Adventure. That night we drove to Central California and Sequoia National Park, spending the night in Visalia.
The next day we walked amongst the Sequoias, hiking the High Sierra Trail and Crescent Meadow. We drove further North and spent the night at Hotel Del Sol in San Francisco's Marina District.
We woke early and headed to Muir Woods as the park opened and walked the loops before the international tourists took over, later driving to Muir Beach Overlook. We jaunted further North to Napa for an intimate tour and tasting at Smith-Madrone Vineyard with owner/vintner Charles Smith.
We then drove South and spent the night in Salinas. The next morning we drove the California One along the coast (for some reason Google Maps won't allow me to chart the route) passing through Big Sur and Morro Bay on our way to Santa Barbara.
We spent the night in Santa Barbara at the Castillo Inn and dined at Toma, the city's highest rated restaurant, where my kid brother is second sous chef.
The next morning, we drove to San Bernardino and flew home.

There was little sleep, but many incredible memories and moments shared over the more than 1,200 miles.
